| An extraordinary
experience: A fascinating view from the mountain scene of the National
Olympus Park to the ruins of antique Termessos. Here, in the land
of the Sun, very high from the sea level, there is a naked and wild
beauty surrounded with the myths, and away from the confusion of the
daily life. When the heat of the sun starts to scorch the soil, the
shepherds ascend to the higher and watery places as it was in the
past. We agreed with the same idea in our walk and discovered how
much relaxing and restful the heights were. We will pass through the
mountain chains on foot and follow the coast line. Finally we will
be spoilt with the delicious food peculiar to the special mood of
the Anatolia.
Itinerary:
1st Day (Sunday): Arriving at the airport and transfer to
the hotel. Meeting in the hotel; after saying hello, KRAULAND, the
guide of the walk will introduce you the walk program which will
be held in the following days.
2nd Day (Monday): "Panorama
hill of the Lydia Beach". After having breakfast, we will move
to Cumjuva, the start point of our walks which was a fishing village
once upon a time. First, we will pass through the forest among the
pine trees following the ascending narrow footpath that reaches
to Kapei Mountain (305m). When we reach at the top, we will find
the fire-watch house of Kemer. We will be able to watch the magnificent
Lydian coast line that extends from Antalya to Kemer. We will descend
from a cool and shady path to the Port of Kemer and here, enjoy
the delicious food of the local cuisine as well Turkish hospitality.
Climb-up: approximately 350 meters uphill; Climb-down: approximately
350 meters downhill; Distance: approximately 8 km; Walking Time:
2-3 hours.
3rd Day (Tuesday): "The
eternal fire of the Lydia Mountain". Passing through the shady
orange gardens and among the pine trees, we will reach to the Ulupınar
brook and cross the brook by means of a large tree fallen down.
Then we will walk through a romantic pine peanut forest and go through
Chimera, "the place of three headed Dragons". The seamen
had considered this natural flame which is like a game of the nature,
as the house of Hephoistos, the God of Fire. Then, we will make
a short walk and reach at the final point of our walk, the breathtaking
view of the Beydağ Mountains from which we would see the magnificent
gulf of the Olympus. This historical place is in the middle of a
wonderful natural scene, the most beautiful beaches of the Lydian
Peninsula. We will be able swim here.
Climb-up: approximately 350 meters uphill; Climb-down: approximately
350 meters downhill; Distance: approximately 12 km; Walking Time:
3-4 hours.
4th Day (Wednesday): "The Dream of Laicos the Rodosian".
We will start from Çamyuva and come to a desolate gulf. The pathway
extends from the romantic peanut forest of Phaselis into the historical
ruins and the first Sarcophagi, curling from the bottom of the rocky
hills. According to the legend; the founder of this city, Laicos
from Rodos, was asked for a selection either the cereals or fish
as a payment for the land of the shepherds. No matter what his decision
was, you will be able to taste both of them in the end of our tour.
Following the port street of the ancient times, we will reach to
the south-eastern gulf, "The City of Three Ports". After
a short slope and a quite and silent bay, we will be able to have
a glance at the fascinating port settlement for the last time before
arriving in Tekirova, the final point of our tour.
Climb-up: approximately 150 meters uphill; Climb-down: approximately
150 meters downhill; Distance: approximately 10 km; Walking Time:
2-3 hours.
5th Day (Thursday): "Termessos
- the Unconquerable City". The scientists might search whether
why the people needed to shelter in this mountain of 1100 meters,
2000 years ago. However, the freedom ambition of the warrior people
of this unconquerable, rocky city is being felt inevitably. We are
horrified when we consider the strength of the earthquake which
messed up the huge stones of Sarcophagi in 300 A.D. Moreover, it
is apparent now why Alexander the Great could not capture this great
rocky city.
Climb-up: approximately 250 meters uphill; Climb-down: approximately
250 meters downhill; Distance: approximately 12 km; Walking Time:
4-5 hours.
6th Day (Friday): "A Mysterious
Plateau". The start point of our last walking will be Cedelma,
a small mountain village in the middle of Tahtalı Mountain chains.
Firstly, we will pass through a shepherd pathway among the peanut
and pine trees that smell excellent. In the end, we will unexpectedly
meet a great plateau involving countless fruit trees, old fig and
pomegranate gardens. A wonderful scene of Göynük Valley. The old
mountain houses with artistic figures let us into the dreams. A
short climb-down takes us to Altınyaka plain among the trees. At
the end of the way you will come closer to Turkish hospitality and
of the delicious food.
Climb-up: approximately 550 meters uphill; Climb-down: approximately
250 meters downhill; Distance: approximately 12 km; Walking Time:
4-5 hours.
7th Day (Saturday): Final. We
arranged the last day of the week as a resting day and allowed you
to make your own choice. You can do whatever you want, you may go
swimming, or make shopping around the city where people will know
you as well. Before concluding this peaceful, impressive and adventurous
walking week, you will be at the Hotel in the evening and take the
Baptism Diplomas in order to plant the fresh sapling trees.
8th Day (Sunday): Departure. After having breakfast you may bid
farewell to your walking guide. You may transfer to the airport
to return home or carry on your travel in Turkey. Accommodation:
Reservation for the following walking week. It is possible to have
reservation by means of the Hotels in Kemer.
