The wonderful, paradise valley called Gökova Bay is the most beautiful and fascinating places of the region. The Bay is declared to be a "Protected Sit Zone" due to some of the antique settlements on the region. The historical Turkish constructions, especially in small Akyaka village, are being restored using the modern construction techniques depending on the originals. Jean Jack Cousteau, the famous French Oceanographer, defines the underwater world of Gökova as a natural aquarium.
